Here in Amsterdam we have coffee shops where we can buy cannabis. But the law never dealt with the problem of supply so we still have criminal structures on the supply side. I think it would make sense if everyone could grow their own. Holland also has fewer heroin addicts than any other country. Cocaine and freebase are still a problem here but that's like everywhere. The money to be made is so huge. Moderation is a good idea for sure.

Having said all this there's definitely something to realizing that a 'Purist' approach to one's body has benefits. I don't think enforcing this in a @Draconian way works - and as we've all seen - with young people tends to have the opposite effect!

But obviously i think it's something we all work out for ourselves over our lifetimes. I don't like being sick and throwing up and hung over so I drink very little alcohol. The less I drink, the quicker I get a slight 'buzz' and then can stop - meaning - it's much cheaper for me and i don't need to have lots of booze to 'have fun'. Generally that seems to make sense with everything - don't get used to having too much as then you won't then have to keep increasing your intake! Ho ho - having the odd spliff is much more rewarding than always smoking spliffs. See I guess the people who advocated 'Moderation in everything' were probably right. I tend to get impatient with mates etc. who're always like..we need more booze..

Being as independent as you can makes sense. Especially in this materialistic world.

Thanks for that! Cheers. You've got a great point re: creative outlet.

Yes also I think it's definitely important for people to understand the different risks with something like say - a narcotic - and something else like a psychedelic substance. With regards to the possibility of physical addiction with the former, and mental fucked-up ness with the latter! And also the different grades of psychedelic substances - so ranging from weed to say acid to mescaline or what have you. Or even something simple like...alcohol dehydrates you so it ain't the smartest thing in the world to sit in a hot country in the middle of the day swigging a beer and not drinking very much water! which is typical holiday behaviour and can be pretty damn dangerous if you end up in a hot enough country.

Also the other thing I think that's generally not focused on very much ( typical of society really - ostriches that we are!) is the fetishization of either 'alcohol' or some drug - or 'drugs'.

This post is honest snappy & smart. You have a Gift. Like galloway I agree with every point. I feel compelled to emphasize the danger in teaching kids weed & heroin are the same. So when kids smoke & realize they've been misled they'll assume everything about the heroin was a bullshit lie too.

That's one way people die.

One way people live -- what has kept me alive -- is an outlet for my creative juice. When I write something I get high sure a chemical gets me. Better in some ways of course...
Having Art hasn 't caused me to quit drugs -- shit I don't want to -- but helps me Regulate.

Positivity.

btw you are on my Spun CookieRoll now. You know what that means:

Zing.
